Handwritten notes on this New Year's Eve
I don't like new years but I like reflecting on the past
I’m not particularly into new years.
I don’t believe in yearly new you’s and me’s, in rebranding because you don’t think you’ve done enough this time around. I don’t believe you and I need to try again.
I take this time to reflect on what makes me feel alive. What keeps me going. What I love and what brings me joy, so I know what to fill my time with. What sparks my frustrations, so I know what I long to change.
We bring into the present what we’ve accumulated from the past.
Up until now, every one thing you and I have done has been important.
I take this time to reflect on perseverance. We learn anew, we grow, we persevere. Our past exists with our present, a powerful informant, guiding our next steps.
I cherish 2024. It has reminded me of where I need to go, and who I am to be.
To celebrate this year on substack, I’m reading back on what I’ve pondered about and written. It’s not all perfect, and some things I would write differently, but it’s nice to share! Share even if it’s imperfect!
I’ve written down some notes, lessons from the year, reminders, and quotes from (almost) every post I’ve shared in 2024.
I wish you a peaceful and wonder-filled New Year’s Eve, I’m proud of what you’ve accomplished this year. And I believe what is to come is filled with power, creativity, and imagination.
Grateful for you,
M
